From July 12th-17th, 2010, Plano resident Stephen Shanabrook is taking a hobby and turning it into a Guinness world record. He will attempt to break the record for longest consecutive bowling. The current record is held by Canadian Andy Milne, who set the record of 5 days and 2 hours in October of 2005.
Shanabrook has been bowling in a league for about a year at Plano Super Bowl inPlano, Texas, and came up with the idea last November while casually looking upbowling records.
“I saw this record, and I felt like it was something I could take on,” said Shanabrook. He will be bowling for several charities as well, including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the ASPCA, and the Susan G. Komen foundation.
Brunswick Bowling is a sponsor of the event, providing the two bowling balls
Shanabrook will use during his attempt, along with several shirts.
Plano Super Bowl is open 24 hours a day, so it was a natural choice for the event.
“We’re proud to be hosting this event and wish Stephen the best of luck in trying tobreak this world record,” said proprietor Randy Isenberg.
The first ball rolls at 8 am on Monday, July 12th and he should break the record sometime Saturday in the afternoon or early evening.
